Ipê Sunburst
This mantelpiece was designed as a focal point - a single, unmistakable statement piece that commands the room from the moment you walk in. The client's brief was to evoke the bold geometry of Art Deco design, and Ipê hardwood was the natural choice: rich in colour, dense in character, and capable of holding the fine, radiating lines the design demanded.
The sunburst motif radiates outward from a central axis, each timber ray carefully angled, cut, and finished to create a seamless flow of line and grain. The effect is both architectural and sculptural - it draws the eye, anchors the room, and rewards closer inspection with the subtlety of the woodwork.
Like all of our work, this piece was designed, built, and installed by the same hands. There are no shortcuts in a project like this - just the patient, honest craft of working with exceptional material to create something worth keeping.
